Potato Power!

The Year 4 Science afterschool club investigated how to make a circuit without using a battery as the power source!

Their challenge was to use a voltmeter that registered the amount of volts that a potato, an orange or a lemon could make. They also used 3 different metals - copper, zinc and magnesium.

Eventually we tried to light a bulb using lemon power - unfortunately not enough power in one lemon. Perhaps that's an investigation for later?

Mrs Simonson and Mrs Jankowski were impressed with their teamwork, recording skills, and problem solving. Well done, super scientists!
