Tadpoles in Y1!
Year 1 are studying different animals in Science.
They are learning the new vocabulary - Mammal, Amphibian, Reptile.
As part of this learning we have a tank of pond water in class, and the children are watching tadpoles (and other pond creatures) and noticing what they are doing.
Nahom said “The tadpoles come from frog spawn and they have gills”
Savannah said “They eat leaves”
Praise said “ Tadpoles have tiny mouths to eat and they use their tails to swim”
Aizah said “They look swirly and they are our class pet!”
The children will learn that as an Amphibian a frog changes its breathing system from gills (as a tadpole) to lungs.
