Investigating Capacity and Volume
The children in Year 1 have spent an enjoyable week investigating what capacity and volume means. They have used water, sand, lentils, blocks and even breakfast cereal to find the volume of different containers, and have been introduced to the terms millilitre and litre. There has been lots of counting, recording, problem solving and excellent team work.
