Mrs Fran Sheeran

Dear parents, carers and members of the community of St Michael's School,

I am writing to you with very sad news. Mrs Fran Sheeran, who many of you will remember, has passed away this weekend; she was a wonderful colleague to many, a fantastic teacher and great advocate of the pupils of St Michael's.

The family of St. Michael’s Primary School have lost a very dear friend in Fran Sheeran. Fran was an inspiring teacher for over 25 years, who began her time at St. Michael’s when the infant and junior school were on different sites. Throughout her career she wanted the very best for the children and her warm outgoing manner gained the respect and love of pupils and staff alike. She was a wonderful teacher and mentor who passed on a love of learning to all who worked with her. Fran was always positive, maintaining her sense of humour with a skill to provide joy throughout the school. She loved being with children, her ‘little blossoms’, and remained a class teacher in addition to taking on the added responsibility of Deputy Head Teacher. She was a driving force to make St. Michael’s the wonderful happy school that will continue in her memory.

Today the school planted a tree, some spring flowers and a yellow rose bush in her memory. The staff also had a prayerful liturgy to start the morning to use this time to remember her and support those staff who loved her dearly. This afternoon, the children of Year 4, 5 and 6 were told the news.

If you have a memory of Mrs Sheeran which you would like to share, we will create a book of memories which, in time, we will pass onto the family. You can do this by emailing the school office, writing a note or sending a card.

Please find a copy of the liturgy which the staff shared today, below.

Kind Regards

Mr N Conway, Executive Head Teacher.
