Science Day!

We had lots of fun on Science Day!

Year One had lots of fun learning about different animals as well as wind power.

Y3 - Today we explored how light reflects of different materials and also what materials let light through or block light and discovered these materials are called either transparent, translucent or opaque.

In the afternoon, we started a long-term experiment on the effects and impacts of acid rain. We placed leaves and eggshell which represent living things and a paper clip which represents non-living things into a jar. One had water in, and one had water mixed with vinegar to create acid rain which has a pH level below 5. We will regularly check the jars over the coming weeks to see the impact acid rain has on our environment.

Y4 - Year 4 had a great time today catching up on their Electricity topic in science. They investigated circuits and the affect that a switch makes. In the afternoon they investigated Solar energy - using solar panels and volt meters to measure the energy of the sun, and making a pizza box oven. Well done Year 4.

Y5 - We were looking at wind power as a renewable energy source and made our own wind turbines and we looked at air pollution and created pollution jars to see the effects.
