First Sunday of Advent

This Sunday is the first Sunday of Advent. Advent is an important part of the Christian calendar. It means 'coming' and it's the period before Christmas which celebrates the birth of Jesus.

On the first Sunday of Advent, we start with a celebration of Jesus’ Second Coming. Jesus is coming back for us, therefore, we take heed to Jesus’ instruction for us to “ Stay awake ” and be on guard.

The first candle on the advent wreath represents Hope.
