Tree Detectives!

July 3, 2018

Year 1 became tree detectives today, and were amazed at all the different varieties of trees that we are lucky to have in our school grounds.  They used magnifying glasses to check the trunk and bark, to see if there were any living creatures.  They used tape measures to record the circumference of the  trunk – and had great fun hugging the trees!  They made bark rubbings and looked at patterns, they noticed  different  shapes and colours of leaves,  and asked lots of questions.

Joshua liked the Ornamental Plum Tree.

Amelia said she liked the Holly Tree – “ Its leaves last for ever – they stay green”

Arno said “The Silver Birch has silvery ‘skin’ and moss grows on the north side which is the coldest side”

Well done Year 1 – you are treemendous!
