Year 6 visited West End library this week as part of their History topic, looking at the history of Elswick.

Today Early Years celebrated Chinese New Year in school. We had time to taste some Chinese food, create our own cherry blossom paintings, make our own lantern and assemble a Chinese money envelope. We had such an exciting afternoon!

Year 4 enjoyed an afternoon at the local library, choosing books and listening to a story. Please make use of the Cruddas Park Library - it has a photo exhibition of the area going back in time. It is very interesting.

On Friday our fabulous Year 5 basket ball team played in the grand final of the Hoops4Health competition at the Eagles arena. The team won their first match and went on to play in half time of the Eagles match. Our team played with such determination and passion and finished in second place on shoot outs. The team were a credit to themselves, their families and the school. Well done!

On Friday our wonderful Year 5 class went to the Eagles arena to compete in the Hoops4Health basketball competition. One of the St Michael's teams went on to win the tournament which is fantastic achievement. The winning team will play in the advanced grand final at 5pm this Friday (20th) before the Eagles game. Tickets are available from the Eagles arena if you wanted to attend. Well done Year 5!

Today in Computing, Year 2 were learning about how computers process instructions. They used Beebots to input instructions so it would move to different locations.

Year 4 had a great afternoon investigating electrical circuits, and learning about the components needed to make a bulb glow . All of the children worked brilliantly in pairs, learning together and sharing ideas. All of them could talk about the components using the correct scientific vocabulary, and how a fair test could be implemented ( changing a bulb for a buzzer). Great work, year 4

Today Reception went on a bear hunt in Literacy. We felt the long wavy grass, we jumped in the mood and found a snow storm! We spotted a bear outside too before having to crawl through the tunnel to the cave at the end. We loved going on a bear hunt!
