Well done to all of our fantastic children who took part in today's Fun Run! We ran a mile in the beautiful sunshine in Elswick Park before cooling off with a drink! Thank you for all of the sponsorship money which will go towards a defibrillator for school.

This week, we have been taking part in Community Engagement Week. We have wrote 'kindness' cards to say a great big thank you to people in our local community!

Over the past few weeks Year 2 have been learning about why it is important that women have the vote. Today we used all that we had learnt and in small groups, we wrote speeches containing reasons women needed the vote. We also designed our own rosette int he colours that the Suffragettes used!

As part of their Science topic on Sound, Year 4 spent an enjoyable afternoon investigating which material is more effective at muffling sound. The comparative test introduced new vocabulary - particle, medium and vacuum - and was also lots of fun. The children were able to speak about sound waves and also how our ears receive and make sense of sounds. Excellent Science work, Year 4.

On Friday, we celebrated Clean Air Day! Clean Air Day is the UK's largest air pollution campaign. We made pledges to try and make our world a better place! 'I will open my windows to let clean air in' said Emily in Y2 'I will walk or bike to school instead of getting the car' said Lanica in Reception. 'I will pick up litter and put it in the bin' said Y3.

Today two of our Year 5 children received their First Holy Communion at St Michael's Church. Everyone at St Michael's is very proud of you on this special day as you show the commitment to your faith. Congratulations!

On Thursday 24th June, we ae having an American Dinner Day! All children are welcome to have a delicious school lunch. It costs £2.20 for children in Key Stage 2 unless eligible for Free School Meals. Please pay on SIMS Pay if your child would like a meal on this day.

Year 4 were amazed at their Wow Wednesday challenge today. There was lots of discussion and laughter as they tried to work out the optical illusions.
