Today in Literacy we have been looking at expression in speech, we used our super listening ears to understand how characters in the film 'Inside Out' speak their parts. We thought about their facial expression and body language.
Year 4 have been excited to welcome the new arrivals to the classroom - a tank of tadpoles! Nawaaz said ' I like them in the class because I can see how they change', Hashim wanted to know when they will be frogs, Asal wanted to know about the 'bugs' that are also in the tank, and all the children think it's great fun!
The Year 4 Science club had a great time investigating colour. They were amazed to discover the different colours in marker pens, and then had fun finding out what happens to skittles when water is added. There was good use of scientific language, lots of questions, much laughter and even some sneaky eating! And then we watched grapes dance! WOW!
We looked around our school to see what different microhabitats we could find. We know that a microhabitat is a smaller part of a habitat. We found lots of different creatures and thought about why these creates choose to live in this particular microhabitat.
Year 4 had a dragon in the class today! The sound was terrifying! They made a word carpet in response to the sounds and images, and then were led through the 'scene' as the descriptive words and phrases were read aloud. There was much discussion about which words were more effective and why. These words will be used to write a short descriptive piece, in preparation for some Persuasive Writing next week.
