    Investigating Shapes in Y2

    This week, Year 2 started their new maths topic – shape. On Monday we worked in groups to find 2D shapes around the school. We found out that the ball pit in EYFS is a hexagon and we spotted a triangle on the water cooler in the staff room!

    Super Skipping!

    On Monday afternoon. Year 2 were lucky enough to take part in a skipping festival at St. Cuthbert’s High School. They have worked hard to improve their skipping skills and have learnt lots of new ways to skip along the way. We all had a fantastic afternoon and came back to school with some awards! Well done Year 2!

    Y6 made some mosaics today, which will contribute to a larger mosaic image at the front of our school. Each class will also get the opportunity to add to the mosaic. Great creativity Y6!

    Special Meals Assembly

    Y1 performed a brilliant assembly this morning, all about special meals. The read beautifully and sang really well. They shared their special meals before sharing the story of 'Feeding the 5000'. Well done!

    Y6 visited Sacred Heart High School today to meet the author Kate Pankhurst. Kate talked about her life as an author and inspirational women in History. Each child received a personalised signed copy of the book, to take home and enjoy. Happy Reading Y6!
    Special Memories

    Special Memories

    Y5 shared their special memories today, as part of their RE topic. They talked about the special memory of Jesus and how he is remembered today. We also discussed how our memories are kept alive today. Ruby brought in photographs from her holiday in Holland, Abigail brought in baby photographs and clothes, Rachel O brought in a Elephant from her trip to Africa and Alfie brought a special photo of his Nana.

    Y5 hosted a fantastic English Cafe this morning! They performed their story map and wrote a spine poem with their parents - well done! Thank you to all who attended and for your continued support.

    Y1 visit Emily Makenzie!

    On Friday 9th February the children enjoyed an afternoon at Sacred Heart Primary School to meet the author Emily Makenzie. Emily read her new book ‘Eric makes a splash’ and also showed us how she did the illustrations. The children were able to ask lots of questions. Nawaaz wanted to know what books were made of, and Zarah asked how Emily started to write books. At the end of the session Emily signed a book for each of the children in the class.     Each class had their 'green treat' afternoon today! The children who have stayed on green on the behaviour chart for the full term, received their treat. Well done everyone!
